Saint William School Chicago, IL
Mrs. Potempa, 4th Grade
Welcome to our
Classroom Webpage
Hello! My name is Mrs. Judy Potempa, and I am looking forward to being your 4th grade teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. There are many changes that happen between 3rd and 4th grades, so be prepared to have a lot of questions. As in the past, students will bring home a Friday folder each week with completed schoolwork and school handouts. Additional school communications will be sent home with students on other school days as well. Friday folders have a Parent Log that is signed weekly and returned (along with the Friday folder) the next school day.
4th grade has a VERY busy morning each school day. Students should get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast every day. Students may continue to bring a small nutritious snack (such as fruit, granola bars, yogurt, raisins, carrots, crackers, fruit juices - but no cookies, chips, fruit snacks, etc.). Please remember this is NOT a meal; it should be SMALL in size. We keep doing schoolwork while we snack. Reusable water bottles can be kept at students' desks, but please write names on the bottles. Do not freeze the water bottles or include ice, as they will drip onto schoolwork, books, backpacks and/or lunchboxes.
We have simple rules which are posted in our classroom:
Get ready for a busy, challenging, and exciting school year!

- LISTEN and follow all directions.
- Be polite, caring, respectful, and responsible.
- Be a positive member of our 4th grade class by supporting all learning effort.
- Be in our classroom and at your desk BEFORE the tardy bell rings at 7:55 A.M.
- Have all school materials and supplies ready for use at the beginning of our school day (for 7:55).
- After arriving, unpack backpacks, bring personal belongings into the closet, and file schoolwork in your folder in the homework file.
- After the tardy bell rings, be seated, start your morning work (which is found on student desks or on the front board).
Get ready for a busy, challenging, and exciting school year!
